BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — The Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) arrested an elderly man after deputies discovered multiple illegal drugs during a traffic stop June 15, 2026.
At around 5:45 p.m., on Monday, June 15, officers with the BCSO pulled over a vehicle in the area of Canal Drive and Feathervale Drive, in Oroville for vehicle violations. During the stop, officers noticed that the driver, Barry Hancock, 73, of Oroville, was acting suspiciously and had a K-9 inspect the vehicle. The K9 alerted officers of the presence of drugs.
BCSO officers searched Hancock’s vehicle and located fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
During the stop, officers noticed that the driver, Barry Hancock, 73, of Oroville, was acting suspiciously and deployed a K-9 to inspect the vehicle.
