Blaine police are investigating a reported shooting at Bill’s Gun Shop and Range in the Circle Pines area after officers were called to the business Saturday evening following reports of gunfire in the parking lot. The incident occurred at the business on 88th Avenue Northeast, where authorities later found an adult male suffering from what police described as a suspected gunshot wound.
Officers were dispatched to the location at approximately 6:15 p.m. after receiving reports that shots had been fired in the parking lot. When they arrived, they found the injured man conscious, according to Blaine Police Deputy Chief Joe Gerhard. Emergency medical responders treated the victim before transporting him to a hospital for further care.
Authorities have not released the man’s identity. Police also have not disclosed which hospital he was taken to, where on his body he was reportedly shot, or the circumstances that led to the shooting. The seriousness of his injuries was not immediately known Saturday evening, and officials said additional information about his condition could be released as the investigation develops.
The shooting happened at a property that includes both a gun shop and a shooting range. However, police have not said whether the victim was inside the business, using the shooting range, in the parking lot or elsewhere on the property when the gunfire occurred. Investigators are working to determine exactly where the incident began and what happened immediately before the shooting.
No suspect had been taken into custody as of Saturday evening, according to police. Detectives are now working to establish a timeline of events, determine what led to the gunfire and identify the person who may have been responsible. Authorities have not announced a possible motive or released a description or identity of a suspect.
Investigators said they have leads they are following as part of the case. Surveillance footage from the area is also being reviewed, which could help detectives determine the movements of those involved and establish what happened before and after the reported shots were fired.
The Blaine Police Department is leading the investigation. Deputy Chief Gerhard said the case could eventually be transferred to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office if the injured man dies from his wounds. At this stage, however, police have not indicated that there is an ongoing threat to the wider public connected to the shooting.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing surveillance video, following leads and speaking with potential witnesses. Officials are expected to release additional information when it becomes available, including updates on the victim’s condition and any developments regarding a possible suspect or motive.
