A tragic accident in rural Pennsylvania claimed the life of a 25-year-old man after the vehicle he was repairing reportedly collapsed on top of him inside a garage in Jefferson County, authorities said.
According to investigators, Gage Alexander Rowe died Monday afternoon in Warsaw Township after the vehicle he was working beneath fell from its jack stands. Emergency responders were dispatched to a garage along Milliron Road at approximately 2 p.m. following reports of an unresponsive man trapped under a vehicle.
Officials said Rowe had been performing mechanical work underneath the automobile when the support jacks unexpectedly failed. The collapse reportedly left him pinned beneath the vehicle, causing catastrophic injuries. By the time first responders arrived at the scene, Rowe had already succumbed to his injuries.
Jefferson County Coroner Greg Furlong later confirmed that Rowe died from blunt force trauma. The death was officially ruled an accident. Authorities have not released further details regarding the type of vehicle involved or whether any mechanical failure contributed to the collapse of the jack stands.
