An overturned vehicle caused a significant traffic disruption on Vasco Road in Brentwood on Tuesday afternoon after a crash involving reported injuries blocked all southbound lanes near Camino Diablo. Emergency crews responded to the scene as authorities worked to manage traffic and investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
According to a traffic alert from 511 SF Bay, the crash occurred south of Camino Diablo and involved an overturned vehicle and injuries. The incident remained active Tuesday afternoon, with motorists traveling through the area encountering blocked southbound lanes while emergency personnel responded.
The collision created considerable difficulties for drivers using Vasco Road. With all southbound lanes blocked near the crash scene, motorists faced delays and were required to navigate around the affected area while authorities carried out their response. The available traffic information did not identify the people involved in the collision or provide details about the extent of the reported injuries.

On February 25, an adult male driver died after reportedly losing control of his vehicle while traveling northbound on Vasco Road and striking a light pole near Camino Diablo, according to the report concerning that crash.
Vasco Road serves as an important transportation route connecting eastern Contra Costa County with Alameda County and the Tri-Valley area. County information indicates that approximately 22,000 vehicles use the roadway each day, while much of the corridor consists of a two-lane rural route. The combination of regular traffic and the roadway’s rural characteristics has contributed to ongoing attention to safety conditions along the corridor.
Tuesday’s crash comes as local officials continue examining ways to improve safety on Vasco Road. Contra Costa County recently completed a Vasco Road Corridor Safety Improvement Study covering the roadway between Highway 4 and the Alameda County line. The study examined traffic conditions, collision patterns, infrastructure and environmental considerations along the corridor.
Additional safety improvements are also planned through the Vasco Road Safety Improvements Phase 2 project. Proposed work includes approximately 1.5 miles of concrete median barrier, roadway widening and wildlife crossing systems. The project is intended to address safety concerns and improve conditions along another portion of the corridor.
The investigation into Tuesday afternoon’s collision remains ongoing.
