The Edmond Police Department has arrested an 11-year-old girl in connection with the fatal shooting of her 15-year-old brother at a home in Edmond, Oklahoma. Authorities announced the arrest on Thursday, Sept. 10, after officers responded to the residence the previous afternoon and discovered the teenage boy dead inside. The girl, whose identity has not been released because she is a juvenile, was taken to a juvenile detention facility and booked on a charge of second-degree murder.
According to the Edmond Police Department, the arrest took place earlier Thursday morning as investigators continued working to determine the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death. When officers arrived at the home, they found the 15-year-old boy deceased inside the residence, Ward said, according to News 9.
Investigators believe the 11-year-old girl was the only other person inside the home at the time of the shooting. “We believe that she was the only other individual in the house at that time,” Ward said, as reported by KFOR. The victim’s mother was reportedly away from the home when the shooting occurred.
