Family and friends are mourning the death of Ryan Tran, a British Columbia man whose disappearance prompted a search after he left for a camping trip in the East Harrison area on September 11. According to a report by Fraser Valley Today, Agassiz RCMP later confirmed that Tran had been found deceased in the Harrison area on Wednesday, September 16. Corporal Carmen Kiener, an Agassiz RCMP spokesperson, said police located Tran in the area while assisting with the search.
The missing-person investigation had originated with Surrey Police, while Agassiz RCMP assisted authorities with search efforts in the Harrison area. The discovery brought the search to an end, but it also delivered devastating news to Tran’s family and friends.
Police have not publicly released details about the circumstances surrounding Tran’s death. Cpl. Kiener said authorities would not provide additional information out of respect for Tran’s family. As a result, the cause and circumstances of his death remain undisclosed.
