The body of Murry “Alexis” Foust, a student at Northern Kentucky University who had been missing since April, was found Sunday in Wilder, Kentucky, according to the Covington Police Department.
Authorities said an independent search party discovered Foust along Steel Plant Road in Wilder. Investigators from the Covington Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Evidence Collection Unit are now working alongside the Wilder Police Department and the Campbell County Coroner’s Office to examine the scene and determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
Officials stated that there are currently no signs of foul play. However, the Campbell County Coroner will conduct an official investigation to determine Foust’s exact cause of death.
Foust had been missing since April 27, prompting extensive search efforts across the Latonia and Covington areas. Multiple law enforcement agencies and volunteer search organizations, including EquuSearch Midwest, a branch of Texas EquuSearch, participated in the operation to locate the missing student.
In a public statement, Covington Police expressed sympathy for Foust’s family and loved ones, saying they hope the discovery may provide answers and some sense of closure during this painful time.
Northern Kentucky University also released a statement mourning the loss of the student. University officials described the death as a heartbreaking tragedy for the campus community and extended condolences to Foust’s family, friends, and everyone who knew them.
The university also thanked the police departments and volunteer groups involved in the search efforts. In addition, NKU encouraged students and community members experiencing emotional distress to seek help through its counseling services, which remain available around the clock.
